Structural Steel, Port Moody
Why structural steel work in Port Moody
Structural steel packages fabricated and installed from our C.W.B. certified Burnaby shop: beams, columns, frames, canopies, stair towers, mezzanines, and miscellaneous steel.
Port Moody structural steel work splits between the hills and the water. On Heritage Mountain and around Harbour Heights, view-lot homes use steel the way most hillside markets do, beams over open plans, columns carrying decks and garages over grade, frames that keep glazing walls open toward the Burrard Inlet. Down at sea level, the Inlet Centre and Moody Centre corridor is one of the busier density stories in the Tri-Cities, and that construction generates commercial and multifamily steel: miscellaneous steel packages, elevator-shaft scopes, canopies, and stair structures. The older stock in Glenayre and College Park adds renovation steel, a beam replacing a bearing wall in a 1960s split-level. Our shop is 20 to 30 minutes away up the Lougheed Highway, close enough that Port Moody scopes get the same split-delivery flexibility as our Burnaby work. Conditions here are wet-side standard with a twist: around 1,600 to 1,900 mm of annual rain, a design ground snow load near 1.8 kPa, Vancouver-zone seismic detailing on all connections, and moderate coastal exposure along the Inlet that pushes waterfront exterior steel toward hot-dip galvanizing. The City of Port Moody requires permits for structural work, and some waterfront properties add an environmental review step for setback areas, which we build into the schedule rather than discovering late.
Port Moody has a strong luxury residential market on Heritage Mountain and along the Burrard Inlet waterfront, paired with a growing Inlet Centre density hub near Moody Centre station. Residential work here leans into modern architectural metalwork, frameless glass railings on view lots, mono stringer staircases inside open-plan contemporary homes, and custom entry canopies. Our shop is 20 minutes up Lougheed Highway from Moody Centre.
