Structural Steel Fabrication in Coquitlam

Coquitlam gives us two very different structural steel markets, 15 to 25 minutes up the Lougheed Highway from our Burnaby shop. The first is the new-build zone on Burke Mountain and Westwood Plateau, where architect-led custom homes lean on steel to do what wood framing cannot: long clear spans over open-plan main floors, beams carrying two storeys above a glazed wall, columns hidden inside walls so the view stays open. We deliver those as complete beam and column packages, engineered drawings through erection. The second market is everything the first is not, the older stock in Maillardville, Ranch Park, and Austin Heights cycling through renovations that need a steel beam where a bearing wall used to be, and the commercial and multifamily construction around Town Centre and Burquitlam generating miscellaneous steel, elevator-shaft scopes, and canopy structures. Coquitlam's design loads sit slightly above Vancouver proper, a ground snow load around 1.8 kPa, with standard Vancouver-zone seismic detailing on every connection per CSA W47.1. City of Coquitlam permits for structural work run 4 to 8 weeks, and because the drive from our shop is short, we can run site measures, delivery, and erection on Coquitlam jobs with the same flexibility as a Burnaby project, split deliveries included.

Coquitlam splits into two distinct metalwork markets. Burke Mountain and Westwood Plateau are active new-build custom home zones, mono stringer stairs, glass railings, and modern canopy structures going into the latest generation of architect-led homes. Meanwhile Maillardville, Ranch Park, and Eagle Ridge have 1950s, 80s housing stock cycling through railing and stair replacements. Our shop is 15 to 20 minutes up Lougheed Highway.

1. RFQ and scope review. We price against the structural drawings and spec sections, and state assumptions and exclusions in writing. Residential quotes in 2 to 5 business days; commercial tenders within the tender window.

2. Shop drawings. Detailed 3D drawings of every member and connection. Anchor bolt and embed layouts release first so foundations are never waiting on steel.

3. Engineer review. Submittals tracked through the engineer of record and architect review cycle, with fast responses to review comments.

4. Fabrication. Steel cut, drilled, fit, and welded at our Burnaby shop under C.W.B. supervision to CSA W47.1, with mill certificate traceability.

5. Finishing. Shop primer, hot-dip galvanizing per ASTM A123, powder coat, or intumescent systems per the specification.

6. Delivery and erection. Steel sequenced to the erection plan, crane picks coordinated with the site, field connections bolted or welded by C.W.B. qualified crews, then inspection documentation at closeout.
