Structural Steel Entrance Canopy, West Vancouver
Project spotlight
Structural Steel Entrance Canopy, West Vancouver
An architect-designed structural steel entrance canopy for a luxury West Vancouver home, exposed steel fabricated to finish quality and installed on a demanding hillside site.
- West Vancouver, BC
- Steel canopy structure
- Exposed architectural steel
Project overview
Exposed steel, engineered for the North Shore
On a luxury home, an entrance canopy is the first piece of the building a visitor touches with their eyes. This West Vancouver project put exposed structural steel front and centre, which means the fabrication is the finish.
Exposed architectural steel leaves nowhere to hide. Welds are ground and blended, connections are detailed to disappear, and the coating system has to handle North Shore rain and coastal air while looking the way the architect drew it. The canopy structure was fabricated at our Burnaby shop, finished for exterior exposure, and installed with the fit and alignment a high-end residential site demands.
Projects like this sit at the intersection of our structural steel and residential work: engineered like a commercial canopy, finished like a piece of architecture.
- Architect-led design carried through shop drawings to install
- Finish-grade exposed steel with coastal-rated coatings
- Engineered for North Shore wind, rain, and seismic conditions
