Straightforward information before the next conversation

These answers are written to be useful for people, search engines, and answer engines without adding unsupported claims.

What types of projects do you handle?

Jeff and Simon handles steel structure projects, railings, commercial and residential staircases, gates, canopies, and custom metal fabrication for architect-led and contractor-led builds.

Is your team certified and licensed?

Yes. The shop is C.W.B. certified to CSA W47.1 standards, and the licensed crews have experience across residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

How do you ensure project quality and safety?

The team follows strict construction and design standards while keeping safety protocols active through fabrication, coordination, and installation. All structural welding is performed by qualified welders under C.W.B. supervision.

Where do you work?

Primary service areas include Burnaby, Vancouver, Coquitlam, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Port Moody, Squamish, West Vancouver, and Whistler. The shop is on Douglas Road in Burnaby — most Metro Vancouver project sites are a 10–30 minute drive.

How can I request a quote?

Call +1 (604) 294 0409, email info@jeffandsimon.com, or use the quote and contact forms on this site to share the project type, address, and preferred timing.

Do you have project references or awards?

Yes. Jeff and Simon highlights award-winning project involvement, including the VRCA 2021 Award of Excellence (Silver Award on Naikoon PH1) and Georgia Awards work. Notable clients include BCIT, Simon Fraser University, Surrey Memorial Hospital, and Guildford Town Centre.

How much do custom metal railings cost?

Custom metal railings in Metro Vancouver typically range from $75 to $350+ per linear foot installed. Steel picket railings run $120–$200/ft, cable railing systems $150–$275/ft, and glass-and-metal hybrid railings $250–$400+/ft. Pricing depends on material, design complexity, finish, and site conditions.

How long does a typical project take from quote to installation?

Most residential projects take 4–8 weeks from approved shop drawings to installation. A standard railing replacement runs 4–6 weeks. A full custom staircase with mixed materials can take 8–12 weeks. Commercial projects with architect review cycles typically run 10–16 weeks depending on scope and coordination requirements.

What materials do you work with?

We fabricate in mild steel, stainless steel (304 and 316 grades), aluminum, and specialty metals as specified. Finish options include powder coating, hot-dip galvanizing, brushed stainless, and custom colour matching. Material selection depends on the application — for example, stainless steel 316 is recommended for waterfront properties due to salt air corrosion resistance.

Do you handle both residential and commercial projects?

Yes. Our residential work includes custom staircases, railings, gates, and canopies for homeowners and builders. Commercial work covers stair systems, glass and stainless railings, miscellaneous metals, and structural steel for architects, general contractors, and institutional clients. The same C.W.B. quality standards apply to both.
